Boris Johnson Messes Up, Albie "The Samaritan" & 7 Dollar Taxi

Some of my friends say that I "only do things for people when it benefits me". How rude! Worse still, it is my closest friends that say that. I do selfless things for people all the time as I believe in Karma.

There are times though when I just can’t be asked to help out even a cool friend. Like when one of Gesche’s roomies locked Gesche in her house by accident and she asked me to come help her because she had castings. I was like, "umm, no". It was too cold outside, I only just woke up and Gesche lives like 20 mins away by scooter. I get her point as there aren’t that many people for Gesche to look up to for help as she’s from Germany but…nah, was freezing that day!

Ema Savahl Campaign. Hand painted clothes

However, I did 2 cool Samaritan-ish cool things this past week. The first was for David Pirnia, of Pirnia Collections. He is the UK agent of a number of brands such as Andy The-Anh and American designer Ema Savahl. David needed a little help for the "Pure London" show which was held during the last few days.

Laura Burns modelling clothes at Pure London

His normal models were unavailable so he needed a model to try on clothes for the buyers. I got him Laura Burns. The other thing was for someone to do "work experience" in the lead up to the event. In other words, a slave that would work for free and he could boss about.

"David's little helper", Georgia Goodrick

As I could not get anyone for him, I said I would help out a little on the weekend setting stuff up. I sneakily also got him another helping hand in Georgia Goodrick.

Me trying to steam the inside of a dress

So now he had 2 little helpers to play about with and had us hanging up the collections, assembling mannequins and steaming about a million dresses! It was long but fun. Neither of us knew how to steam a dress so we waited until David went away before we started. We got a little tip from some dude from Seattle. He said to steam the inside of the dress as supposed to the outside. It worked better but got well hot inside the dress.

Simple and cool S/S 09'

Not so cool for S/S '09

A couple of days later we visited and looked around the other brands to see what was in for the Spring / Summer '09 season. A lot of poo but some really cool finds. During the fashion show, they used the whole Ema Savahl collection to close the show. I've always been a big fan of Ema anyways so no wonder they used her.

Anastasiya Pavlenko and I the night before at a party

The other good deed was helping Anastasiya Pavlenko. Anastasiya was around my area so we went for a long walk around Notting Hill. Great she loves my area cos I don’t like travelling much. She has been applying to schools here to do her Masters in Business. For one of the schools Anastasiya applied to, she needed to do an English test (because she is Russian). So I attempted to help her with it.

I am the worse English teacher ever especially that I reckon I’m unofficially dyslexic. Being dyslexic is not a bad thing, but it's a gift in a lot of ways. It means I think laterally and creatively to make sense of things.

Thinking creatively sometimes makes my imagination go wild sometimes. Like when I thought "worms were 'baby snakes'". I know it isn't the case (now) but when that part of my brain kicks in, there's no stopping my imagination. Or maybe what I have is just pure stupidity…either which.

I do however stay away from reading novels as long books get boring, frustrating and seem to not remember anything I have read as soon as I turn the page. So yeh, the English test was easy enough and knew all the answers. However, the problem was that I couldn’t explain why the answers were what they were so it made it difficult for Anastasiya to understand. I tried to help as much as possible but like a long book, we got bored and went for walkies.

Charging Motorbikes! Skanks...

Oh but the disgracefulness!! It didn't take long for Mayor Boris Johnson to mess up. The only thing I wanted Boris to not do was not do an extra charge for scooters/bikes...AND HE DID! The new law kicked in the other day where if you park at a Motorcyle Bay in the Borough of Westminster, you get charged £1.50. It is only from 8:30am-6:30pm but what a skank.

Not only does it now cost almost £6 to fill up my tank where it used to cost £4 a week, now this. Some days I have meetings in Central London so it's a piss take for moi. However, for those that work in the Borough of Westminster you can purchase a yearly thing which costs £150. Gutted for everyone that got bikes. Get rid of that law Mr.Mayor!

I met the guys from 7 Dollar Taxi. They’re some hot new band and quite cool dudes. Not even sure where they are from but I like their video for "Do the Robot". They were hanging out at Paper the other day in the VIP with my model friend Tasha Wright.

Tasha and I hanging out at Paper

Tasha and her first cover for Glamour Magazine, Italy

Speaking of Tasha, she's been doing amazing recently landing her first cover for Glamour Magazine in Italy! Well proud.

ARGH! CHANGE THE LAW BORIS...no charging scoot scoots.

xx

Albie!!

P.S. I shall be hanging out at Paper (68 Regent Street) both Friday and Saturday. All the usual yumminess at my table. On Saturday, if you don't have plans...I'll be dining at the restaurant from 9pm so come join moi if you likes. Dinner on Albie!
