Mode a Paris: Day 4 & Homage to the Designer

It was Naia's last day in Paris before she had to fly home to Denmark, then to India for 2 months overseeing the production of the Spring/Summer '09 collection for Article 23 and the other clients she designs for. Naia's hubby was in Africa on business so we hung out to watch the shows together.

Leonard Paris at the Louvre was our first show. In the jam packed venue, Leonard showed off a beautifully romantic collection with his signature prints in psychedelic colours.

I'm a huge fan of Leonard Paris having painted Zuzana Gregorova in his Autumn/Winter collection. Key looks in the collection were the fringe dresses, harem pants and the hugely loose dresses.

Speaking of fringes, a lady hanging out in the lounge before the Barbara Bui show was wearing one of the horrible fringe hats Barbara had on the catwalk last season. At the shows, some people will pay homage to the designer and wear pieces from past collections to the shows. I hated those! Urgh.

While we waited, I got interviewed by Swedish and Japanese press asking me about trends and what I was wearing. When asked about trends, I had no clue what to say so I reeled off what friends thought: "80's were back" (I got that from Sarah Young) and "7/8 trousers will be in" (from Naia Rico).

Barbara Bui kept it cool and simple for next season. Details like the bling on the vest straps were cool and gone were any hats which was a relief. Pearly white, black with the odd dash of colour with cool prints added edge. The white motorcycle jacket to close the show rocked. Nothing like a yummy on a bike...

MTV Europe interviewed me after the show to see what I thought. I said, "I thought it was a great show with many wearable pieces that women will be wanting to buy come next season".

After lunch we went to the Zucca show by the river Seine. "Ole Ole" with Zucca going Spanish gypsy. Ruffled pieces with embroidery paired with reconstructed denim jeans made into tops gave the look of the collection.
