I finally got explained what the “credit crunch” is over dinner last week. I'm a bit slow I know. Anyways, they said it is affecting everyone in a bad way but come to think about it, it really isn’t affecting me. If anything it is making life easier! Things like computer stuff, clothes and even food is getting cheaper so I’m a pretty happy bunny. There are tons of deals around like half price this, 50% discount on that etc. The only bad thing is I don’t get as many dollars from the good old sterling like I used to. I might have to skip New York Fashion Week in February! Oh no, it is affecting me…
I was talking to Georgia Goodrick about the week gone by and she was like, “you realise you haven’t hardly spent a penny?!” It is so true! Not that I’m tight (well partly probably), but I just happen to know a lot of nice people who hook me up with stuff and find myself in favourable situations.

James Morrison and his band at the Shepherds Bush Empire
Svetlana Sysoyeva and I at the James Morrison concert
For example, I went to see James Morrison in concert at the Shepherds Bush Empire. The tickets were courtesy from Svetlana Sysoyeva who got them from the company she currently works for…Universal Records.
That was fun. I wasn’t really a fan of James Morrison but he was cool and got some good songs! I’m actually going to see him perform again next week. Well him, but loads of other performers at the Jingle Bell Ball at the 20,000+ seat O2 Arena. It’s for Help a London Child, which is the same charity I did my 10K for in the summer. Again, going with Svetlana. I’m so excited; I’ve got a Golden Ticket!
I also went to an art exhibition in Notting Hill with Sammie Reed, who I haven’t seen in ages. The artist was MN who painted Goddesses for his collection. He paints on things he finds on the street like old rice bags as his canvas. Even the paints he uses he finds on the street. Now that is resourceful.
After dinner, Sammie and I went to get something to eat in an Italian restaurant in Kensington Park Road. Outside the restaurant, Sammie and I met a couple that liked our style and asked us to join them. They seemed decent enough so we sat with them. The dude was a banker and the woman ran a construction business.
During dinner, the dude kept making assumptions about us because we told him that I was an artist and Sammie was a singer. Which is true but there is so much more to us than that. He thought we had “no money to our names” so when it came to paying for dinner, he said, “how much was in your budget for dinner?” We said nothing because we happily were going to split it evenly. After the third time of asking I said, “£3 was our budget” (thinking in 2001 McDonald’s meal terms). He came to a happy medium (for him anyway) and all we had to pay was £10 and he covered the rest, which was quite a lot more.
The other nights, I had dinner with friends and randoms at Paper in their restaurant courtesy of the club. What I love about dinner at Paper is you get to know and meet lots of cool people over an intimate meal. Friends bring friends and good times are had by all. When the club is on, it is so loud making it impossible to have any sort of conversation. Munching good food with great company, for me, is one of the coolest things to do.
I realise it has been months since my last oil painting. Recently, I’ve been doing mixed media pieces with ink, watercolours and acrylics.

This painting I got back to what I do best and did a nice sized oil painting. The painting is of German model Tabea Koebach and she is wearing Jean Charles de Castelbajac. Tabea is a new face getting spotted in March of this year in New York City.
