A Rocking Painting

Last week was the birthday of Georgia Goodrick's mom, Sandra Goodrick. For her present, I said I'd do a painting but somehow didn't manage to get it done in time for her birthday. In fact, I didn't even have the canvas to start it!

On her birthday day Sandra was kind enough to treat Georgia and me out to lunch at this swank little place near Warren Street. The food was delicious as we ate crocodile and kangaroo and some other yum things. The price wasn’t cool though with £15 added to the bill as RANDOM extra charges (wasn’t even the service charge). I offered to do an “Albie Special” and complain but they said to allow it.

After lunch, Georgia felt really bad because I didn't get her mom a present so she suggested I at least get a plant or something to show I appreciated lunch. Understandable I guess, so we went to the nearest plant shop and chose a pepper plant. We like our chillies all except the peppers are not edible which made it kind of a lame present.

However, I knew that when I got around to doing the painting, it would be the best present ever and will blow everything anyone got Sandra out of the water...and I think I've achieved that!

So this painting was inspired from a small picture that's randomly in her toilet. It was taken years ago when Sandra was in a band called Après Sex. The band wasn't famous or anything but in fact, it is Georgia's dad that was the proper rocker with his band "Zodiac Mindwarp".

What I love about the painting is that Sandra still oozes that same fierceness and freeness. She's a cool lady and great to be around!

I spent 3 solid days working on this painting. I'm a touch rusty as this is the first oil painting I've done in ages. I painted it with love and was worth every minute seeing how much she's done for me.

Anyways, this painting is dedicated and for Sandra Goodrick. Thank you for everything!
